SULH - Monthly Report (August 1999) Reports, Bulletins and Newsletters

1. General overview of the project.

Sulh held meetings with ISAR, UNHCR, Fund of Eurasia, DRC, Azercell-Telecom BM, Exxon, Oxfam, TACIS, NRC, UN Resource centre and submitted the projects to some of them.

2. Project beneficiaries.

There were 165 beneficiaries of Sulh in August.

They were:

3. Implementing structure.

The list of beneficiaries is preparing and the activity in other centres has been started already.

4. Related input.

A meeting was held with Ms. Ulla Fomsgaard and her successor in DRC in August.

During the meeting new project manager got acquainted with Sulh and some information was given concerning the organisation.

ISAR allotted grant to mobile puppet theatre in August. DRC allocated the means for English training in British Council for 2 persons and office rental.

5. Implementing procedure.

Legal information center received 38 persons in August. People apply the center to get the consultation. They get consultation on the following topics:

  1. Conscription
  2. Violation of administrative rights.
  3. Labour rights
  4. Individual labour agreements

They were the people aged between

18-60 28 men, 4 women
Over 60  2 women, 4 men

1. Refugees-9 persons
2. IDPs from Aghdam 6
                     Lachin 1
                     Gubadly 5
                      Zangilan 2
3. Martyr families 2 persons
4. Large families 3 persons
5. Vulnerable families 7 persons
6. Disabled families 1 person

6. Children and adolescents center.

75 persons were involved in the center.

They were:

1 IDPs:

Gubadly-12 persons
Jabrail- 6 persons
Zangilan-1 person
Aghdam- 6 persons
Lachin- 3 persons
Fuzuli- 10 persons

2.Vulnerable families- 24 persons

3. Large families 13 persons

Refugees 5 persons

Beneficiaries

Girls - 2 persons
Boys - 71 persons

A) English courses had 15 participants. The age limit is as follows:

Between 12-18 10 persons
Between 180-60  5 persons

IDPs

Gubadly- 5 persons
Zangilan- 4 persons
Fuzulu 2 persons
Vulnerables- 4 persons

Apart from the revision, reading materials also have been read from the newspapers.

B) Music circle had 5 beneficiaries. They fall under the following categories:

  1. Large families 2 persons
  2. Vulnerable families 3 persons

Their age limit:

Between 12-18     5 persons

3 boys       2 girls

Lessons are conducted twice a week. Total number of lessons is 8. Delivered subjects:

C) 75 persons took benefit from sport circle. This month sport festival has been implemented in the circle.

They were:

1) Refugees 5 persons

2) IDPs

a) Gubadly 12 persons
b) Zangilan 1 person
c) Fuzuli 10 persons
d) Jabrail 1 person
e) Aghdam 6 persons

3) Vulnerable families 3 persons

4) Large families 13 persons

75 of the beneficiaries were males.

Age limit:

Between 6-12     5 persons
              12-18    68 persons
              18-60    2 persons

Course is delivered as a coaching form.
Football forward, off-side, games
Volleyball games, blow
Chess- mate and stalemate

D) Kindergarten had 2 beneficiaries this moth. They were

1) IDPs

a) Gubadly region 2 persons

1 girl     1 boy

Age limitation

Between 6-12       2 persons

Delivered subjects:

1. Fairy tales, poems, walks, books on environment, to learn poems, toys from the plasticine

Children had 16 lessons in August. 2 hours a day. Total number of lessons is 32 hours a month.

E) Puppet Theatre had 30 beneficiaries in August.

They were:

1. Refugees 5 persons

2. IDPs

Gubadly 7 persons
Zangilan 5 persons
Lachin 5 persons

3. Vulnerable groups 8 persons

Age limit: between 6-12    23 persons
                            12-18    7 persons

Delivered topics:

After the staging of fairy tale Tic-Tic khanim Little Red Riding Hood has been staged this month.

Other courses: Russian, preparatory courses, drawing, amateur , computer, knitting, sewing, handicraft, carpet weaving, primary school, health education center, business training center, Sunday schools, women center, center of ecology will continue their activities in September.

7. Management.

Sulh is managed by the head elected in the general assembly of Sulh NGO.

Results of Human Rights and Democracy seminar delivered by Sulh
NGO in Ali-Bayramly and Ganja regions

Subject of the delivered seminars:

  1. What is democracy?
  2. Generation of Human Rights
  3. Rights of IDPs, refugees and martyr families

Seminar participants were very happy with the distributed hands out on new Laws and books about rights. They suggested the following proposals:

  • Periodical delivery of the similar seminars in both regions
  • To send the documents on human rights to them
  • To sent the documents concerning the forthcoming municipal elections
  • To set up the branch of the organisation in the regions and take benefit from the branch in case of necessity ,to get free juridical consultations and to use the services offered by the lawyers.

Participants (30 persons 10 from ExCom, 10 from Police office, 10 persons from educational department) attended the seminar on a regular basis.

Seminar participants expressed their gratitude to the sponsor of this event.
