THE 24th OF MARCH- WORLD TB DAY
The 24th of March 2003 marked as World TB Day. Along with malaria and AIDS,
tuberculosis (TB) recognized by United Nations Organization (UN) as the most
dangerous disease for the mankind health.
More people die from tuberculosis (TB) than from many other curable infections
disease in the world. Every day, more than 20,000 people develop active TB and
5,000 people die from the disease. TB infects people in every country of the
world, both rich and poor alike.
Therefore on the 24th of March World TB Day was marked by the theme People
with TB and under the slogan "DOTS cured me- it will cure you too!".
Regarding to this day on 24th of March in Darnagul settlement, Binagadi, Narimanov,
Surakhani districts of Baku and in 9th microdistrict the representatives of
health department of Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society carried out awareness campaign
and distributed information leaflets among 522 refugees and IDPs settled in
We hope that such kind of campaigns, carried out in the future will help people
to protect their lives and to repulse disease.
